French Canadian Tortiere
Description
- 2 1/2 lbs groud lean pork
- 2 cups shredded raw potatoes
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 2 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp sage
- 1 tbsp (each) savory, cloves, garlic
- 1/2 cup hot water
Combine and cook until meat is grey in colour. Cover and simmer 30 mins. Let cool.
- 1/2 cup bread crumbs
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp water (beat egg and water together for glaze)
Add: Bread crumbs. Put into pie crust and cover with top crust. Glaze with water and eggBake at 400F for 40 minutes or until it bubbles.
