Oven Browned French Toast

  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tbsp melted butter or margarine
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • pepper
  • 5 slices bread (not too fresh)
  1. Heat oven to 450 degrees
  2. Grease baking sheet well
  3. Beat eggs and butter together
  4. Stir in milk, salt and a few grains of pepper
  5. Pour into shallow dish
  6. Dip each slice of bread in mixture, turning so each side take up some of the egg/milk mixture
  7. Place on greased baking sheet
  8. Bake in very hot oven for 8-10 minutes
  9. Turn slices and bake 5 minutes longer to brown both sides
  10. Serve hot with maple syrup, honey, granulated maple sugar, cinnamon and brown sugar, jelly or cottage cheese and jam.
