These ham sticks have been passed down generations and are part of every Thanksgiving dinner, but would make great appetizers for any meal.  Original recipe calls for "sweet milk" but we use regular milk as back in the day, regular milk was called sweet milk as opposed to buttermilk.

Meat Ingredients:

1 lb cured ham ground
1 1/2 lb ground fresh pork
2 eggs
1/2 cup cracker crumbs
1 cup milk

Glaze Ingredients:

1/2 cup vinegar
2 cups hot water
1 1/2 cups brown surgar
1 tbls mustard
1 tsp salt

Mix glaze ingredients well

  1. Preheat oven to 250 degrees
  2. Mix Meat Ingredients together
  3. Shape like chicken legs and place on skewer sticks and place on cookie sheet
  4. Pour glaze over ham sticks
  5. Cook at 250 degrees for 2 1/2 hours
  6. Turn the ham sticks over and cook another 2 1/2 hours
Hope you give these a try and enjoy them as much as we do.
