Dump And Bake Manicotti With String Cheese in a Pellet Grill
Delicious Manicotti with String Cheese for the Whole Family
You must try this simple and delicious pasta dish, it’s a crowd-pleaser! While it’s not traditional Italian manicotti, it’s an easy, cheesy meal the whole family will love. Plus, using a pellet grill instead of the oven helps keep the house cool on hot days. Manicotti with string cheese adds a fun twist to this classic dish.
If you’re not a fan of sausage, you can substitute hamburger meat, but the sausage really elevates the flavor. I also toasted some store-bought garlic bread in the pellet grill, which turned out fantastic alongside the string cheese-stuffed manicotti.
If you love cheese and easy-to-make comfort food, give this manicotti dish with string cheese a try—you won’t be disappointed! This Manicotti stuffed with string cheese is especially delightful.
Ingredients:
- 1 (8 ounce) package dried manicotti
- 14 pieces string cheese
- 1 1/2 cups chicken broth (beef, vegetable, or even water)
- 1 pound hot Italian sausage (Italian sausage, hamburger)
- 1 (24 ounce) jar pasta sauce (I love Classico tomato and basil)
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (Or your favorite blend I added provolone slices)
I added some dry basil, Italian seasoning, granulated garlic, and oregano. I also added some green chile flakes. You can use red pepper flakes if you want some spice. Or, of course, you can use fresh chopped italian parsley or basil, too. (optional)
Directions:
- Preheat your pellet grill (or oven) to 350 degrees.
- Cook your ground hot Italian sausage or hamburger in a pan and set aside.
- Stuff 1 string cheese stick into each dry manicotti noodle and place in a 9 x 13 pan.
- Add your chicken broth to your pan of manicotti filled with string cheese.
- Add your cooked ground sausage or hamburger on top and spread evenly.
- Dump your jar of pasta sauce right on top, covering the sausage.
- Optional: Now is when you can sprinkle on your dry basil, Italian seasoning, granulated garlic, and oregano.
- Top with your favorite shredded cheese and cover your pan with foil.
- Place in your 350 degree pre-heated pellet grill and bake for 45 minutes.
- After 45 minutes, remove the foil and bake another 10 to 15 minutes or until the cheese is melted.
- Let your manicotti with string cheese creation rest for 15 minutes before serving.
ENJOY!
